BAND SPOTLIGHT l LANDSCAPES

So I have been stuck on this band this entire past week and a half. This sub-genre of hardcore isn’t everyone’s cup of tea as many things go in many different aspects of more than just music. Yet, this band strikes a big interest in me through their melodic style and use of poetic lyrics. I find that almost anyone could relate to this band and their message of deceit and hopelessness, along with the hardships of life itself. Landscapes resides within the UK and brings a very harmonic style to their audience. If you a are a fan of Defeater or More Than Life then I would highly recommend checking this band out following them!
I personally am waiting for them to tour out here in the U.S. very soon and feel this band deserves a lot more attention!

INTERVIEW l VERSE

So this interview has been a long time coming and honestly a goal of mine for quite some time. Verse has always been one of my favorite, yet motivational bands for me and has always meant a lot to me… as I am a sucker for melodic hardcore. I was able to take a few hours in hanging out with these dudes after their show out in Pomona, California this past August and got to interview them on many aspects of the band, as well as clear the air with some topics people have arose with them since their breakup in 2009. Many people have formed their own views on this band due to their state of no longer being a straight edge band, but nevertheless their music has not taken a huge turn. Straight edge or not, we still back this band to the fullest. Eric and Sean were some of the funniest and outgoing dudes we have interviewed by far, as we had a great time hanging out for those few hours. Be sure to pickup their new LP “Bitter Clarity, Uncommon Grace” off Bridge Nine Records and buy some merch at an upcoming show in support of these guys!

So our boy RichyxGorth was able to make it out to the Dial in Murietta, CA for Love American’s last show and film their set. It sad to see this band be quiting and not be given as much attention in the hardcore scene as they deserve. We wish these dudes farewell and will be keeping you all updated on future and upcoming bands the members will be moving on to (if so).

CAPSIZE - “WEIGHT” l MUSIC VIDEO

So my friend James’ band, Capsize, put out a new music video for their brand new song “Weight” that was recently released as a single. The band is currently in the works of writing a new album and to be hitting the studio, recording with Taylor Young in early October. So I was able to get a photopass in time to take photos and film during Verse’s set at this free show thrown by Bridge Nine Records and ScionAV. Scion has outdone themselves this past year with all the free shows they have been throwing, yet this very show has had me the most stoked of all.
I decided to shoot the entire opening song “The New Fury” during their set, so here it is.

BAND SPOTLIGHT l HANG YOUR HEAD

So a band that really has grasped my attention lately is a band from Tehachapi, California called HANG YOUR HEAD. They are a 4-piece melodic hardcore band who remind a lot of Life Long Tragedy. If you are a sucker for melodic hardcore you should DEFINITELY check these dudes out. Although there isn’t a whole lot of melodic bands left such as this, these dudes are keeping it alive for what it is in the hardcore scene. They deserve a SHIT TON more attention and credit than they have been getting and deserve everyone’s attention. They also plan on playing just about ANY show in California this summer and plan on touring. If you know of anything and can help these dudes out then PLEASE hit them up and book these them asap! So check them out and download their demo for free below regardless if you are a fan of this sub-genre of hardcore or not, because discovering new music and new bands in this day and is age is never a waste of time.

So we all know that Verse is writing their fourth full-length record that is soon to be released July 17th called “Bitter Clarity, Uncommon Grace” that will be put out by the almighty Bridge 9. Recently they released a sample of this up and coming record with one of the tracks off of it called “The Selfless of the Earth.” Verse is one of my all time favorite hardcore bands and their lyrics and powerful style have moved me since day one.
